IOG partnered with SPO to bring in offshore support vessels in Taiwan
International Ocean Group (IOG), a local marine engineering group in Taiwan, collaborated with Swire Pacific Offshore(SPO), the world’s leading marine service supplier, to bring a Platform Supply Vessel Pacific Hornbill to Taiwan for noise mitigation duties on the Greater Changhua 1 & 2a offshore wind farms.
Pacific Hornbill (IMO: 9579119) is an Offshore Supply Ship from Swire Pacific Offshore(SPO) that was built in 2012 by JMU MAIZURU SHIPYARD – MAIZURU, Japan. This vessel is designed with ample tank capacities and sufficient deck space suited for a variety of platform supply duties and various ancillary logistical requirements.
Since March, Pacific Hornbill has already begun to execute the noise mitigation project on Greater Changhua 1 & 2a offshore wind farms, which is currently under construction and expected to be completed in 2022. This mitigation is aimed to reduce these noise emissions generated during the construction of the wind farms. The vessel is currently at Taichung Port and sailing under the flag of Taiwan.
International Ocean Group (IOG) is an offshore wind power service group in Taiwan, offering integrated services across multiple sectors. The company’s operations are predominantly based in the Greater China region, where the Swire group has been established for over 150 years. So far, five offshore vessels from SPO operating in Taiwan with one reflagged recently, that is, Pacific Hornbill.
SPO and IOG desire to collaborate to provide marine services to the offshore renewable energy industry in Taiwan. SPO and IOG are going to jointly bring more offshore supply vessels or platform supply vessels, like Pacific Hornbill, to Taiwan. Both parties together show a strong commitment to deliver reliable offshore wind solutions with high quality in Taiwan. With SPO’s strong global capabilities and IOG’s local experience, this collaboration is certainly on the way to be recognized as a market leader in offshore wind industry across multiple sectors.
